Getting started
What is Cediqo?
Cediqo helps you follow the Ghana Stock Exchange and other stock markets, learn how investing works, and keep a record of the shares and funds you own. Everything is shown in Ghana cedis.
Does it cost anything?
No. Cediqo is free while it is in beta. You do not need a card to join.
Can I buy shares on Cediqo?
No. Cediqo does not buy or sell shares and never holds your money. You buy real shares through a licensed stockbroker. Cediqo then helps you keep track of them. See Choose a stockbroker.
How do I start investing on the Ghana Stock Exchange?
Open an account with a licensed broker (you will need your Ghana Card or passport), put money in, then tell the broker which shares to buy. Our broker page lists every licensed broker and the questions worth asking them.
I have never invested. Where should I begin?
Try Practice trading. You get GH₵ 10,000 of pretend money to buy and sell real shares at real prices. Nothing you do there costs real money.
Your account and safety
Is my information safe?
Yes. Your information is protected and is never sold. Only you can see your portfolio when you are logged in.
Will Cediqo ever ask for my broker or bank password?
Never. Nobody from Cediqo will ask for your passwords, PINs or mobile money codes. If someone does, it is not us. Do not share them.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
On the Log in page, type your email and press “Forgot your password?”. We will email you a link to set a new one. You can also ask for a login link instead, with no password needed.
Can I use Cediqo on my phone?
Yes. Open the website on your phone. You can also add it to your home screen like an app: look for “Install the Cediqo app” at the bottom of any page.
Can I hide my money amounts from people around me?
Yes. Press the eye button at the top of the page. Your amounts change to dots until you press it again.
Recording what you own
How do I add shares I already own?
Log in, open Portfolio and choose “Type it in”. Pick the share, enter how many you bought, the date and the price. That is all.
Can I add a broker’s contract note without typing?
Yes. Choose “Scan a note” and take a photo of the paper, or upload the PDF your broker sent. Cediqo fills in the details for you to check before saving.
I made a mistake in a trade. Can I fix it?
Yes. In Portfolio, find the trade in the list, press Edit, correct it and save.
Prices and markets
Where do the Ghana prices come from?
From the Ghana Stock Exchange’s own official daily closing prices. They update after the market closes each trading day.
When is the Ghana Stock Exchange open?
Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 15:00 Ghana time, except public holidays. The clock at the top of every page shows whether it is open now.
Why does a market say “Closed”?
It may be the weekend, a public holiday, or outside trading hours. Open any market to see the reason and exactly when it opens next, in that country’s time and yours.
What is a dividend?
A share of a company’s profit paid to the people who own its shares, usually once or twice a year. You can record dividends you receive in Portfolio.
Is Cediqo telling me what to buy?
No. Cediqo gives information so you can make your own decisions. It is not investment advice. If you are unsure, speak to a licensed adviser or your broker.
