Choose a stockbroker
To own real GSE shares you need an account with a licensed broker. Here is every broker the Ghana Stock Exchange lists, with the questions worth asking before you pick one.
How it works
- Pick a broker from the list below and contact them, or visit their website.
- Open your account with your Ghana Card (or passport if you live abroad). They also open your CSD account, where your shares are kept in your name.
- Send money in by bank transfer or mobile money, then ask them to buy the shares you want.
- Track it on Cediqo: type the trade in or snap the contract note on My portfolio.
Questions to ask any broker
What do you charge?Ask for the total cost of a GH₵ 1,000 buy: brokerage plus the SEC, GSE and CSD levies and VAT. Ask about any yearly or account fees too.
What’s the least I can start with?Some brokers take small monthly amounts; others want a larger first deposit.
Can I open the account online?Ask whether you can sign up with your Ghana Card on your phone, or must visit an office.
Do you have an app?Can you see your shares, place orders and download contract notes yourself?
I live abroad. Can I join?Ask which documents they accept from the diaspora and how you can send money in and take it out.
How do I get my money out?How many days after a sale, and to which bank or mobile money wallet?
Are my shares in my own name?Your shares should be held in your own account at the Central Securities Depository (CSD).
